RULES

REPERTOIRE – Any piece from the Romantic and Impressionistic Period. The pieces must be at least a Level IV according to the CAPMT Student Evaluations grading guidelines.  Please use the “Romantic/Impressionistic repertoire list” as a guide.

  • If your repertoire exceeds the time limit, it will not affect the judges’ decision. The judges may ask the student to stop if a piece exceeds the time limit.
  • All pieces must be performed by memory.
  • Applicants must provide scores for the judges – NO XEROX copies.
  • Previous first-place Romantic/Impressionistic Competition winners may NOT compete again in the same category in succeeding competitions. However, they are still able to participate, out of competition, in the same category and receive judges’ comments ONLY. Once they reach the next age category they are again able to compete in that category. This Rule doesn’t apply to the Special Prize for the Best Performance of the Romantic/Impressionistic Competition for which all performers from the competition are going to be considered.
  • Variation from these rules will result in disqualification. THE DECISION OF THE JUDGES WILL BE FINAL. Teachers may not contact the judges for any reason.
  • The application fee is non-refundable.
  • The competition schedule will be sent out two weeks before the event.
